Michael W. Apple is John Bascom Professor of Curriculum and Instruction and Educational Policy Studies. He has written extensively on the relationship among knowledge, power, and education and about the politics of educational reform. Among his most recent books are EDUCATING THE "RIGHT" WAY: MARKETS, STANDARDS, GOD, AND INEQUALITY (2nd ed), DEMOCRATIC SCHOOLS: LESSONS IN POWERFUL EDUCATION (2nd ed), THE ROUTLEDGE INTERNATIONAL HANDBOOK OF CRITICAL EDUCATION, and GLOBAL CRISES, SOCIAL JUSTICE, AND EDUCATION. He has worked with progressive governments, universities, unions, and social movements throughout the world to democratize educational research, policy, and practice.
